Overview

Founded in 1473, St Catharine’s College (affectionately known as ‘Catz’) is a welcoming, thriving and vibrant academic community of approximately 1,000 students, Fellows and staff located in the heart of Cambridge. The college is notable for its open court (rather than closed quadrangle) that faces towards Trumpington Street.

Project Brief

Cambridge University requested the development of a large marquee kitchen to sit in the existing main court.

The kitchen included a large dining hall, a servery, a full catering kitchen, a prep kitchen, a storage room, a ware washing room, an office and a locker room. To ensure that the space could be effectively used whilst adhering to social distancing, the layout was carefully planned to allow people to freely move in and out without creating crowding.
